Part rapid response, part extended support. Louisville has never seen anything like it! Every widow of homicide and drug overdose has been left unseen until now. Change is here! Are you ready to heal?
Every widow of a homicide in Jefferson County will receive a survival kit. Built by widows for widows. This survival kit includes a gift card for food, grief books for adults and youth, in addition to other support, resources, and an invitation to apply for Widows 911 Extended.
Widows within 1 year of loss can apply or be referred to a Widows 911 Cohort. This 90-day program provides widows with peer support, weekly check-ins, childcare, housekeeping, therapy, and more. Widows who participate have a chance to earn up to $1,500, along with other incentives.
All eligible widows (within 30 days loss) will receive a rapid response. Applications will be reviewed and scored for Widows 911 Cohorts. Cohorts are for widows who are ready to commit to their healing, attend weekly meetings, and challenge themselves to get stronger mentally to survive widowhood.

The Street Widows Foundation helps restore hope for women and families who have experienced traumatic and stigmatized forms of loss.
We work daily to support women and families through partner loss.

Street Widows Foundation exists to break the cycle of trauma caused by stigmatized and violent loss through trauma-informed, culturally responsive support. Helping survivors rebuild their lives with hope and dignity.
